Mood: wheres the wind?
29th April 2004
Windsurfing: Dahab
Wind Direction: NE
Wind Stength: force 7 +
Surf / Sea State: big chop
Air Temperature: 30
Sea Temperature: 25
Weather: sunny
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Went out on 4.7 and JP 105 x-cite nicely powered up had a few runs in the lagoon then went out to speedy.
The wind was much cleaner out side on speedy but the chop was huge and messy had to keep bearing away to miss the huge bits but was way to scary at times as the wind was increasing.
I made some really fast runs on the flat water up close to the sandbar wish I had a GPS im sure I broke 35 mph things felt a lot faster than when I borrowed gps and done just over 30.
The wind increased and I found myself way over powered and was just too mad to go down wind which you have to do to get back from the flat area of speedy.
Saw someone (not from our group) destroy their rig caterpult onto the mast snapping that then through the sail for good measure, ouch! they managed to swim to shore ok though. In the end to get down wind I sat in the water start postion and just drifted down wind til I was able to sail back into the lagoon.
In the afternoon things a little less so went out on 5.7 to sppedy had some good runs even managed a couple of gybes and tacks I was amazed how easy it was to tack the 105 JP. Later in the afternoon the wind got a bit holey so headed back was bit unnerving as couldn't see the gap in the coral due to the low sun lucky someone came out so able to find it. The wind dropped off in the lagoon and ended up slogging back most of the way back to the centre.
